Is it tasteless? Answer: Is ever it not tasteless? Do I have a problem with people who do not like this show? Answer: No. Is it over-the-top vulgar? Answer: Really? It's kind of like way over the top. I can name a lot of negative things about this show, but for some reason, I find it very funny. Let's face it if one of those 'movie star' comedians was running the show it would fail after the first show. This is a very rude and tacky program, with Tosh as the one saving grace. Sometimes - my toes curl so badly, they cramp inside my shoes. During each program, I find myself cringing much more than I should. This is definitely a too-each-his-own type show. Until that happens (and I doubt it will) I'll stick to The Soup. Tosh.0 might be better if the content was more clever and creative. I don't have a problem with making fun of people, but even that level is too low to be humorous. One video Tosh made fun of contained a clip of a man with a severe physical disability simply trying to walk.or crawl, I should say.down a busy street. The jokes are designed to be shocking rather than funny. Tosh.0 makes fun of internet videos and behavior, and the humor within isn't smart. Smart humor is humor that is creative and has a purpose. There is humor, and then there is smart humor. I watched several episodes of Tosh.0 straight through and I can only remember two or three instances when I chuckled. He might be funny in his own act, but here he is trying too hard to be like Joel McHale. I'd never seen him or even heard of him before I watched the show.
But despite all that, I found very little funny about the series known as Tosh.0. I am no prude, The Soup has me in hysterics on a regular basis, and comedy is my favorite genre. No one whose mind is functioning at a reasonable level should ever watch the show and it should be canceled swiftly and speedily.īefore I get into this review, let me just say that I have a sense of humor.
The side commentary about the videos in the Tosh.o show is insipid and pedestrian, there is no value, no content, and it doesn't add to the viewing experience and to top it all off it simply isn't funny. Anyone can find the videos and watch them at home and draw their own conclusions. Since the internet and content is available to anyone with a computer there really is no relevance to the Tosh.o show.
The Tosh.o show basically plays internet videos with the Tosh character adding snide commentary very much like the "America's Funniest Home Video" show does with home movie clips. Clearly the good reviews were some kind of horrible joke. I checked out the program because it had good reviews and was completely disappointed. Tosh.o is very simply a lousy, derivative television program. And, I know the difference between what is good and what is not. And where's the puke? There's plenty of it! The brand of toilet humor and random nonsense is exactly the same. Sure it lacks the camaraderie of Johnny Knoxville and his crazy crew - but the gags are there. I'd actually go so far as to compare this show to MTV's Jackass. And unlike the other shows, Daniel Tosh's is almost interactive, whether it's pasting together stories from random Twitter feeds, wrecking havoc on Wikipedia (they actually had to close the page to prevent Tosh fans from editing it due to "vulgar, rampant profanity"), or seeing how many funny comments he can make in 20 seconds. Now that the show went from having a budget of zero to actually having one, expect them to get even crazier. But what makes Daniel Tosh's show different is that his one-liners are often spot-on, his audience interaction is great (like when he asked his audience which celebrities he could beat up), and the web redemptions/remixes/reunions/retreats are hilarious. You could also say the same thing about America's Funniest Home Videos. Sure, it's just some guy standing in front of a blue screen commenting on stupid people hurting themselves on Youtube for a half an hour. A lot of people compare Tosh.0 to the E! Network's Talk Soup.
